How long does it take to make a custom-made canopy?
Delivery time for a custom-made boat chapel is usually 2-6 weeks depending on the season and scope. We will get back to you with the exact schedule after quote approval.
What materials are used for boat covers and sprayhoods?
For sprayhoods and boat chapel we use durable marine fabrics like Sunbrella®, WeatherMax® and equivalent UV-resistant materials that can withstand moisture, salt, wind and sun - adapted for the Nordic climate.
How much does a new boat shelter cost in Sweden?
A new canopy costs from about SEK 6,000 depending on size, shape, fabric and options such as windows and arches. For exact price - send in pictures and measurements and you will receive a quote within 1-2 days.
Can I use the canopy while the boat is in the water?
Yes, our canopies are designed to withstand use while the boat is in the water, including at the dock or buoy. They provide effective protection against rain, wind and dirt.
How do I extend the life of my boat cover?
Clean regularly with lukewarm water and mild soap, let it dry thoroughly and store it dry. Feel free to use a waterproofing spray once a season.
Is it possible to repair broken canopies instead of replacing them?
Yes! We offer a canopy service where we replace zippers, re-sew seams and repair tears. It is often much cheaper than buying new.
What is the difference between sprayhood and porthole?
Sprayhood is most often used while traveling to protect the cockpit from wind and water spray, while harbor chapel covers the entire boat and provides protection when mooring.
Do you offer canopies for sailboats, motorboats or sternwheelers?
Yes, we sew canopies for all types of boats - including tillers, hardtops, ruffs, sailboats, open boats and day cruisers. Everything is made to measure for a perfect fit.
Do you make new boat covers from old templates?
Yes! If you have an old canopy, you can send it to us and we will use it as a template. You can also choose new fabric, color and improved details.
How much does it cost to order new boat cushions?
The price depends on the size, fabric choice and filling. A standard boat cushion costs from about 1 200-4 500 SEK / piece. Send us measurements and pictures and we will get back to you with a quote.
What foam and fabric materials can I choose for boat cushions?
We offer cold foam, comfort foam, memory foam, as well as water-repellent, UV-resistant and durable fabrics in many colors. You can choose everything yourself.
How do I clean boat cushions properly?
Remove the cover (if removable) and wash according to the washing instructions. Cushions without removable fabric can be wiped with a damp cloth and gentle cleaning.
Can I choose the color and design of the cushions myself?
Of course we do! You can choose from hundreds of fabrics and colors - we'll send you fabric samples so you can feel and see before you order.
Do you sew cushions for both seats and beds in boats?
Yes, we sew both sofa cushions, backrest and mattress pads - whether it is for the cockpit, cabin or bow.
Are boat cushions available with water-repellent fabric?
Yes, we do! We use fabrics that are water-repellent, UV-resistant and mildew-resistant - perfect for boating.
What is the advantage of reupholstering old boat cushions instead of buying new ones?
Redecorating is often cheaper than buying new and provides the opportunity to keep the original shape, but freshen up the style.
Do you ship boat cushions to the whole of Sweden?
Yes! We deliver safely and traceably throughout Sweden - from Skåne to Norrland.
What is the delivery time for custom-made cushions?
Usually 2-4 weeks from approved order. We will announce the delivery date at the time of quotation.
Can I get help measuring boat cushions if I don't live nearby?
Yes, we will guide you by phone, email and templates - or you can send us your old cushions as a template.
Do you make customized dog beds?
Yes! We make customized dog beds to measure - perfect for your home, car or boat. You choose the color and fabric.
What does a custom-made dog bed cost?

We recommend water-repellent and durable fabrics that can withstand chlorine, dirt and washing - we have several to choose from.
Can I get a fabric sample before I order something?
Absolutely! As soon as we receive your deposit, we'll send you free fabric samples to your address so you can choose at your leisure.
Do you also sew seat cushions for the kitchen and patio?
Yes, we sew custom-made seat cushions for kitchens, patios, lounge furniture, restaurants and public spaces.
Do you sew balcony screens to protect against wind and light?
Yes, we offer tailor-made balcony covers made from durable fabric to protect you from the sun and wind - perfect for both rental and condominium buildings.
What fabric is used for awnings and balcony covers?
We use UV-resistant, weatherproof fabrics that keep their color and shape - even in strong sun and wind.
Do you offer sun protection that can withstand rain and wind?
Yes, our awnings and balcony covers are adapted to the Nordic climate - they can withstand rain, wind and UV radiation.
What does a tailor-made balcony protection cost?
The price starts from about SEK 1,500 and up depending on the dimensions and fabric. Send us the measurements and we will get back to you with a price.
Can you come out and install the awning or balcony cover on site?
Yes, we offer installation in Gothenburg, Marstrand and the surrounding area. In the rest of Sweden, we send installation instructions.
How do I wash my boat cover properly?
Wash the canopy with lukewarm water and mild soap. Use a soft brush to avoid damaging the fabric and seams. Leave the canopy to dry outdoors - preferably in the shade, fully extended.
Can I wash boat covers in a washing machine?
No, we advise against machine washing canopies. It can destroy the fabric's impregnation and cause shrinkage or damage to seams and window plastic.
What should I avoid when cleaning my canopy?
Avoid pressure washing, strong chemicals, chlorine, and scrubbing hard. These can destroy the water protection and damage the material.
How often should I wash and maintain the canopy?
Wash at least once a season, preferably in spring and fall. Also clean as needed during the season if stains, mold or pollen build-up occurs.
Do I need to impregnate the canopy after washing?
Yes, you can. After cleaning, you should always impregnate the canopy with a customized impregnating agent to restore its water-repellent properties and protection against UV.
Do you offer professional canopy cleaning?
Yes, we at Marstrand Marine Textile offers chapel wash, drying and impregnation. You can send the canopy to us or drop it off on site in Gothenburg or Marstrand.
