There is something special about delivering a brand new sprayhood to a sailing boat like the Maxi 35.
When we at Marstrands Marintextil AB completed and assembled this model in Uddevalla, it wasn't just about fabric, frames, and seams—it was about precision, craftsmanship, and feeling.
The project was one of those moments when everything came together: the right material, the right fit, and a result that felt as solid as it was beautiful.
When our chapel builder Warujan stood on the pier in Uddevalla, he smiled and said:
”I won't leave until it's as tight as my T-shirt after the washing machine.”
And he meant it.
When the last seam was sewn and the last bow was in place, the result was a sprayhood with a perfect fit, strong construction, and an elegant appearance that blends in with the lines of the boat.
Materials and construction
Every detail of this Maxi 35 sprayhood has been carefully selected to withstand time, sun, salt, and wind.
We only use marine-grade materials from established manufacturers such as Sauleda, Swela, and Sunbrella, known for their durability and color stability.
The materials in this project:
Marine acrylic fabric with UV-resistant and water-resistant impregnation
Flame-retardant fabric (anti-fire treated) for extra safety
Japanese clear PVC pane with built-in UV filter for long-lasting clarity
Double-stitched seams with UV thread that resists sun and movement
Every sprayhood we manufacture is designed, sewn, and assembled by hand in our workshop in Marstrand—and every detail is built to last for many seasons to come.
Design with flair - tailored to each boat
The Maxi 35 is a classic sailboat with clean lines and generous surfaces. To create a sprayhood that truly fits the boat, each part is molded to the exact shape of the deckhouse.
This gives us a balanced design with a perfect fit, stability, and a finish that both the owner and we can be proud of.
Each sprayhood should feel like a natural part of the boat - not an add-on.
It should protect against wind and weather, but also enhance the appearance and value of the boat.
